At this time (May 10) five pups born on March 8, all males, are available from Keisha X Bruno. One female pup, also born on March 8 from Flora X Bruno is also available for sale. The price is $250. The pups are pictured above.

Ready for new homes

These are three of six pups currently available for sale, three males and three females born on January 1 to Cleo and Bruno of Aspenwood. The price is $300 each, which includes worming and first shots. They are well socialized and used to vehicle traffic in the yard. 403 722 2836.

Cleo is now raising seven pups in our little cabin. We are all living together in this cold weather and everybody is doing fine. The pups are just starting to wobble around on the cabin floor right now. As both parents are CKC registered, these pups will be registrable by new owners that wish to do so. Viewings can be arranged in February with pickup in the first week of March.

Cleo is very big. She is due to give birth in the first week of January and stays in our warm cabin most of the time.
She loves attention and is a very good mother. Big Bruno is the father of the litter and both he and Cleo are CKC registered German Shepherd dogs. I'll keep posting updates. (The two pups on the top of the blog are from the same parents)
By the way, I currently have a late bloomer for sale. He was born on September 14 to Ashley, out of Bruno and is doing very well.

Dogs from Aspenwood K9 will always have a home

Pups or adults that leave the kennel are always welcome back. If you have a busy lifestyle and need to board your dog for short or long periods, boarding is available for $4/day, $25/week or $100/month. Dogs are left on overhead tie outs with a dog house and plenty of room to move around. They are fed top quality food and are walked regularly. For details, phone 403 722-2836.

The seven pups born on June 14 have all been doing really well and are now ready for new homes. Their father Cisco recently passed away in a tragic accident but one of his adult sons by Cleo, who is the mother of this litter, has been retained at Aspenwood for stud work and can be viewed.

How does wolf genetics affect dog behavior?

Most of my pups have about 25% wolf blood by design. This has been part of my breeding strategy for many years and, contrary to popular opinion, the result is a less aggressive and hyper dog, on average, than the German Shepherd created by prolonged line breeding.
If you think about it, a wild canine will do everything in its power to avoid confrontation with humans under normal circumstances. There are three exceptions: Starvation, being cornered or protecting its young.
A wild canine is also generally smarter than a domestic one because of the natural selection process involving survival in the wild.
Over many years of breeding I have found that the wild genetics is highly beneficial in creating a great family companion.
